Hi - lynda.com has great tutorials. I have a subscription through my work but there are individual subscriptions ranging from $25 a month. I like that it splits up lessons so that no lesson is all that long. It serves as a nice reference too.

YouTube : Microsoft excel beginner training by MotionTraining…guy has a British accent. Each video is about 5 minutes long and walks you through it all, very helpful.

You can also open Excel and click on the Help icon. You will see:

Basic tasks in Excel

One of the best ways to learn about Excel is to open the program and try using the various features. However, if you prefer to learn in a more focused way, or if you just need a little help getting started, you can refer to the following “quick start” articles.

Create a workbook
Enter data in a worksheet
Format a worksheet
Format numbers in a worksheet
Print a worksheet

book called excel for dummies?

http://www.gcflearnfree.org/computers has some do-it-yourself tutorials.

If the link doesn’t work, google Goodwill Industries Excel Training and you should get a functional link.

Is there a specific task you want to be able to master???

I learned Excel fairly quickly using on-line tutorials but it took longer than two days to be “proficient”
Really depends on what type of data bases you’re trying to create.

I took a class at a community college for an entire semester and still don’t consider myself proficient.
