What is the ideal major for pre-med in berkeley?

What I mean by ideal is how easy. I want to take integrative biology(IB), but I am worried that medical schools will probably not accept me because I took an easy major. Is this True?

Personally, I think all science majors are rather difficult, however some like MCB are more intense. IB will offer more versatility, but by no means will it be a walk in the park. You will take the same lower division weeder classes (Chem 3A, 3B and Bio 1A) as all the other science majors.
-IB
-MCB
[CNR]
-MEB
-Nutri Sci
-MoTox
-MB
However you don’t have to be a science major to go to medical school!!! =)

Poli Sci would be your best bet. Med Schools will think you’re cool cuz you majored in something other than science. How rad is that. Best of all, you’re gpa would probably end up kicking everyone else’s who are in science majors.

are physics 8a/8b and bio 1b weeders?

I would say that

  • Chem 1A
  • Chem 3A
  • Bio 1A
  • Math 1B
  • Physics (not really a weeder but its hard)
are usually considered the weeder classes.

Please correct me if I’m wrong however :)

Chem 1A is difficult, but I wouldn’t consider it a weeder class…since very few are weeded out. I think the majority of the class gets some form of an A or B with very few F’s and D’s

Oh. so weeders are classes where lots of people get D’s and F’s?

then math 16ab, and math 1ab would be weeders too according to pick a prof

weeders basically disappoint you so much that you don’t want to major in it anymore. XD
