<p>IB recruitment schools are always at the top of the forum here on CC, but what does this job actually mean? What does an IB do? Yes pitchbooks and analysis etc… but i don’t see the bigger picture, what are the goals of IB firms like Goldman Sachs, Lehman Bros, etc…</p>
<p>The big picture is to help raise funds for companies and contribute ‘expert’ opinions on topics such as M&A and corporations which is the basis for the pitchbooks. IBankers also are in charge of underwriting IPOs which leads to aid on a company’s red herring. An investment banker is really a ‘middleman’ no matter what angle you look at it, and like any firm their main goal is profit (and this quarter they seem to be making a lot of it).</p>
