I have a 8:45 to 9:55 math class next semester and was wondering what’s the latest class some people have had. I have heard of some astronomy classes that run really late but that’s about it. What’s the latest class you have had?
Do you mean ended the latest? I had a night class that showed movies. I think we started at 7 or 8, and we stayed until the movie was over, sometimes 3 hours. The next night we discussed the movie from the night before.
In law school I was a night student, so every night ended at 9:45-10.
Seems like many nontraditional students taking evening classes can provide many examples.
As an undergraduate, I never had a class that ran past 4:00 p.m.
I had a 6-9 pm lab last semester.
I’m an undergrad and I have 7-9pm labs and a 5:30-8 humanities class
I had an occasional class that was scheduled 7 to 10pm. A local college advertised late night classes on Friday and Saturdays starting at midnight but I don’t know what time they ended. I have no idea if it worked out for the college.
My latest undergrad class probably ended at around 5 or 6 pm… but then again I was working in a restaurant and wouldn’t have chosen any classes that went too late.
Grad classes were all at night, after a day of teaching.
I had several night classes while in school. Most of them ended by 9 but I did have an astronomy lab and that would go longer but it was only one night and it was fun because we would be at the observatory looking through the telescopes which was in the middle of a field in the hills. Needed a car to get there and then you hiked in about a quarter of a mile. One of my favorite classes in school.
I don’t think I’ve had any classes any later than 5pm
I had a few physics classes in community college that started at 6 PM and ended at 10 PM twice a week when I was in community college.
The latest class at my school ends by 9
I had occasional exams that ended at 9:30pm or so, but I don’t think I had any classes in my undergraduate that went past 5pm.
All of my undergrad classes ended by 5pm, but I think I did have the occasional 6pm exam.
At my community college, the latest classes go to 10 pm.
I had a seminar that ran 7-10pm once, otherwise my classes typically ended before 4pm.
I think the latest was a 5:30-7:15pm Calc III class at my community college. There’s also 7:30-9:15 classes but I’ve never taken one. Otherwise my classes usually end before 5pm (actually, this semester by 3:30 and next semester by noon).
Midnight.
It was an observational astronomy class held one night per week from 9-12 during spring term (early April through mid June). It had to be that late because towards the end of the term, the sun would not set until 9pm. Civilian twilight lasted until 9:45 and nautical twilight lasted until 10:30pm. Astronomical twilight lasted until 11:30pm, but with the lights from Minneapolis-St. Paul to our north, that really didn’t matter. Generally, the first half of the class was spent in the classroom and then we went outside, weather permitting, when it was dark enough. The class was very popular, with a long waiting list and taught by a cool ex-hippie Deadhead professor who would tell us all sorts of amusing stories. One of the most enjoyable and satisfying classes I’ve ever taken.
