What is the magic SAT number ?

I have completed my application and will be taking my final SAT test this Saturday. Although I “believe” that I have a good SAT super-score, I am asking if anyone here can explain to me what is the magical SAT score that UF is looking for? Some here have written that an 1800 will suffice with a high GPA and AP classes and there are several posts here stating that a candidate such as me with a GPA of 3.9 will require an SAT score of at least 2040. Do you guys have any opinions?

having above a 2000 would be good. i mean, 2020 vs 2040 doesn’t matter. 1940 vs 2040 does. but 1940 would be much better than 1840 too.

The magic number is 2400. Know what the magic word is?

david a 2140 super score is excellent for UF. You are 70 points above the honors program SAT cutoff.

Unless your single test scores werent horrible then it shouldnt matter. however if you were getting 1700-1800s on each single test then that is a problem

To have a chance: 1800+
To be almost guaranteed admission (In-state): 2000+

Thanks, my 2140 is super-scored, 780 in math and 680 on the other two.
I believe my SAT is high enough but I am still retaking the SAT this
Saturday. I really want an 800!
Also, will UF admissions look @ five attempts at the SAT in a bad way ?

I would think so! After 3 attempts it becomes slightly excessive. Unless you improved drastically each time it probably won’t look great in your favor.

The fall 2010 incoming freshman class had an average 4.3 GPA(which has to be weighted) and 1945 SAT score. Also the only SAT score I could find was the middle 50th for CR + M and the low end was 1170. They love IB students because they admit many of them. You didn’t say what was your class rank or if your GPA was weighted or not. If you have an unweighted GPA of 3.9 and you score over 1200 CR + M SAT you should get into the college.

The SAT score of 1200 you mentioned in your post is no
longer in effect, ( or is it ) ?
UF takes all three sections of the SAT.

The Class of 2015 (those admitted for Fall 2011, Summer B 2011 and Spring 2012) had a mean SAT score 0f 1963 and a Composite ACT of 30. That data would seem to indicate that
an SAT score of 1950 or better, combined with a UF GPA of 4.30 or better and good essay and EC’s would offer a solid chance for admission. Those on the lower end of the GPA and SAT mean were more likely to be admitted for Summer B and Spring.

They don’t see that you took it five times if you uncheck the default option when you send the scores, and you have to use "score choice’ to send only the scores you want sent.

Ill be taking the SAT a fourth time either December or January just in case so I send to UF separately and hope they’ll accept it… If not, then Ill just use the new score incase I get denied and use to appeal.

God I hope I get in, Summer B is fine.

:) I’m taking the SAT again this Saturday too, and for the same reasons! Lol
