What is the point of getting drunk?

Don’t overdo it, just drink 4-5 drinks slowly. Don’t make yourself puke, or put yourself in danger of being manipulated/raped. And if you go to a party, don’t ever leave an open container out of your site.

It’s fun to drink; it’s fun to get tipsy; it’s sometimes fun to get drunk; it’s never fun to throw up or pass out.
Make sure, if you’re drinking, that you’re doing it around people you know and trust. There’s nothing worse than accidentally getting drunker than you mean to around people who couldn’t care less if you slip on the floor and crack your head open. Also, it’s all about drinking lots of water. I’m in favour of drinking, but I’m not in favour of stupid binge drinking to show off to your friends that you’re “cool.” That’s just lame.

I like drinking, I wanna get drunk, but I don’t like the taste of it.

I remember getting drunk my freshman year of college and just after a few hours pukeing all over the floor…everywhere.

That’s how you learn your limit. Next time, eat more food and drink more water before you start drinking, and drink less or more slowly.

sexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

You hang out with people you don’t normally talk to. You dance better. You sing karaoke. Everything’s funnier. People are hotter. Music is more enjoyable. Drunk dialing is always fun.

there really is no “point” per se. but depending on how you react to alcohol, it can be very fun or very disgusting. so its all relative. but you should at least try it once just to see if you’re missing out on fun or should never ever try it again. and if you do want to try it and its your first time, i recommend NOT going to a party but hanging out with friends or something…basically people you can trust.

ok: i have a reseach paper to finish tonight, but for the benefit of my fellow cc’ers, i’ll share my experience.

Ok here is the premise: This week I was at two parties, one on Wednesday and one on NYE. The one on Wed. was hosted by me at my house and I drank-first time I’ve drank since the summer-& the second I chose not to drink.
Here’s how it played out…
1st Party: Drank 4 beers, (corona and blue moon)…i wouldnt say i was drunk, but definitely had a VERY STRONG buzz. Okay, well to oversimplify, I’d say the effect was amazing. I chatted up a storm with all my guys, instead of being reserved like I usually am. Basically, I had the best time ever…and I didn’t even get sick at all…(know your limit!)
2nd Party: Even though I had a ride to the party and was planning on spending the night there, I still opted not to drink. I knew like 3 ppl there, all of whom were drunk…the beginning was very akward!!! But suddenly, all the other girls started passing out, until I was the only girl left standing (literally)…Wow, such fun! Had about 8 hot ivy league boys all to myself. We eventually did a couple shots at the end of the night, but prior to that I hadn’t drank anything at all…I did have a lot of fun that night eventually, and I guess I’m sort of a social perosn, but had I consumed alcohol, two things could have happened: I could have done something with this guy I really liked! or i could have done something stupid with one of the numerous guys who kept trying to get with me. So basically, it was a wash.

The moral of the story?
Drink under the right circumstances, know your limits & don’t drive…Don’t be afraid to experiment a little, o/w you might go hog wild in college, and thats just not good.

HTH

Why do people get drunk? Because people aren’t satisfied and they’ll do anything to “escape”. It’s sad really.

The only time getting drunk has any meaning is after a long slew of pong rounds.

there will not be an answer that satisfies everyone…if i said “because its fun,” then you would respond with “…how??” so basically there is not an answer to that question because everyone has their independent opinions based upon personal experiences they went through. and if you don’t like drinking because you saw people acting very stupid, then fine…don’t drink. but if you’re like me and find it can be fun sometimes, then you will continue to drink. but don’t get me wrong, i think its stupid to get drunk off your ass especially at random parties…so thats why i know my limit and i make sure that the people I’m with is trusting. but other than that…you do what you want.

i drink b/c it’s fun and a stress reliever especially right after taking final exams, it’s a blast to just forget about it. drinking also changes your personality so if you’re a serious person… after a few shots you’re more sociable and outgoing. w/o drinking i’m sociable but also serious, but after drinking i’m talkative, do stupid stuff, let lose, and have a great time. i know this guy that i really wanted to go out with, but he always hated it when i was drunk… he said my personality changed drastically and he liked the sober me. but then again, for some reason, my mom thinks my personality is better when i am drunk. who knew?!

If you are curious enough to post a question about, then try it. If you have moral concerns, then don’t. Provided you exercise restraint (i.e. knowing your limits, not doing it EVERY day), it won’t have a negative effect on your health, athletic ability, appearence, or intelligence. In high school I was a 3 sport varsity athlete (cross country, swimming, track), and now I do competitive triathlons, but I party a fair amount. I go to University of Michigan, and I get good grades, but THAT SAID I know when to stop. The ABSOLUTE MOST I get drunk is once a week, but usually it’s more like once every 2-3 weeks.

to enjoy yourself, to rid yourself of inhibitions that you normally hold and ease yourself in social situations. I don’t drink to puke, just having 3-5 beers loosens me up

Yeah, definitely know your limit. Also, personally I think it’s funner to get drunker with a smaller, more intimate group of friends than at a random house with people you don’t know, it’s uncomfortable. That being said, I’m such a lightweight that I can drink two beers, have one margarita and one pina colada and I’m out all night. I don’t puke or anything I just sleep like the dead and I miss all the crazy/fun times of the party. :(

:) I thought I’d stop in for a quick hello!!

I don’t have a problem with drinking, but it’s disgusting when people get so drunk they are puking like crazy. It’s that all the preppy kids do it, and let’s say some of their stories fall under the category of VERY interesting. Like the girl who tried to rape another girl until the attempted rapee’s boyfriend came in. And the guy who puked all over the place and got phone calls at 2am and he can’t even remember who she is. It’s the crazy stuff that disgusts me. If it happened occasional, I’d be fine with it, but it’s every weekend, I wonder if these people have any self worth at all. they don’t even know how disliked they are by all other social groups because of it. they might be the so called “preppy kids”, but going to a hs football game completely drunk, just not tipsy isn’t cool. Just my 2 cents.

I have never drank before and am curious to try to it due to all the stories you always here. Basically I want to know how I’ll feel and how I’d act. But at the same time I don’t want to. There are SOO many horror stories, and plus the fact that SOO many people do it. The “commonality” of it all kind of deters me from trying it. But if I do ever find an environment that I feel comfortable enough to get drunk in, then I guess I’d try it.

It’s really hard to describe. Just do it, you’re not going to kill yourself. I don’t know of anyone who’s ever started drinking, and then stopped because they said they didn’t like it. If you’re worried about how common it is, there are other things that are less common and can be more enjoyable.
