What is the point of getting drunk?

wow…i feel bad for you, here all you need is someone with a car to buy, they don’t ID

Back in the early/mid 90s when I was in high school it was easy to buy beer. Most of the corner stores where ran by immigrants who honestly didn’t care. Getting top shelf stuff was next to impossible though because in Ohio you can only buy it in state stores, which card everyone.

the many joys of being an ohioan…

lol at this thread.

i concur with most of you, drinking is fine as long as it’s in moderation, you do it with people you trust, and you know your limit. drugs i draw the line at, though, even pot…although admittedly i’ve never tried it, i think that it’s just too easy to mess yourself up with anything non-alchohol. ever since i read “go ask alice” in sixth grade i’ve never once been tempted to touch anything.

everyone should read that book, actually.

what do you guys think? alchohol but not drugs? or both? or neither?

alcy but no drugs I concur, while I don’t use either, I think drugs really mess you up

I agree with the drugs will mess you up. The guys I partied with freshman year of high school are all big into heroin now and completely untrustworthy a-holes.

I think both are fine if you can control yourself and act responsibly…most people cannot, and should stay away from drugs…I think drugs and alcohol are equally as bad…except shooting up, because that is just really dangerous…alcohol is a drug, after all…people shouldn’t need them to have fun, but if they are used in moderation or on occasion, I don’t hold it against people…personally, I’m a drinker

people who condemn alcohol have obviously never seen drunk people. its comic relief =D

noone listen to spanks. completely unreliable for advice on drinking matters. if only you guys knew this girl. haha. just playing

Hannah, I’m going to kill you…and yer little dog too  jk…kind of

I support the European learning-to-drink method, in which it’s the role of the family to teach kids how to drink reponsibly and build up some alcohol resistence when they go to college.

However, it’s also important to note that American and European families are quite different. Somewhere in the last few decades, America has become more individualistic and less family-oriented. Therefore, I doubt the happy European way would work, or even be advisable, where so many families don’t eat together or even interact much.

Meh. I’m less enthused about the drunkness factor than the wine-tasting classes offered at some universities. I wanna learn how to do the cheese-and-wine thing.

Oh yeah, one more thing.

All I ever ask of anyone is that they leave me alone. I’m not trying to make anyone do anything I do, I just want my right to chose to do what I want with my body.

i don’t know why but for whatever reason, i have never been curious about the whole drugs thing. i have never felt a need or desire to try weed or smoke a cigarette. but i have friends that smoke (some more than others.) Still, i don’t think any less of them–theyr’e just being teenagers and they can do as they choose.

though if i had a friend that excessively drank, or did so while driving, or does heroine–then i’d step in and not just lay off.

in terms of choosing to drink alcohol, it would have to depend on the situation, the environment–i mean if i drink to the point of drunkenness, would i feel comfortable getting drunk around the people around me? am i with friends? am i with total strangers that are dangerously wasted? that type of thing. not to sound sexist or anything, but i think it’s especially important for girls to have control of themselves and whatever situation they’re in.

hopefully i’ll have fun in college, party lots, but drink in moderation.

“I support the European learning-to-drink method, in which it’s the role of the family to teach kids how to drink reponsibly and build up some alcohol resistence when they go to college.” ----- Tebro I agree with you here, and it also lessens the curiosity many teens end up having. LoL I would hope i’m not the type of person that would just lose it after two beers or something.

ieatglue, do you think you’ll be doing those for the rest of your life?

I think that getting drunk is silly. I would rather be buzzed or tipsy than pure drunk. Nothing good can come from being drunk. Being buzzed is where the fun is at.

you can get buzzed on no sleep. trust me, at around 5:00 am on an all-nighter, the effects are basically the same.

lampshades become very funny.

lol yeah i know. over break i went to a wedding and we were watching beavis and butthead on TV. it was around 6 AM ( on DVR ) and i was laughing my a** off. it was fun. =)
