You don’t have to pay to visit, but you should factor in meals, transport and a hotel if applicable, and parking, which I don’t believe is applicable at Stony Brook.

^^^ Agreed. The cost is basically your time, transportation cost and any other expenses you must incur (ex. if you need to stay overnight, meals etc.).

  • Gas to get you there. (For Stony Brook, keep in mind that there will be tolls for the bridge(s). I think the Throgs Neck is about $7.)
  • Food. Even the visits we've done that are there and back the same day mean at least lunch.
  • Hotel visit if you're going to stay overnight.
