If an applicant applied RD to Ivies and was accepted, when does (s)he have to respond to the offer of admissions by? Or, is the date different for every Ivy?

I am just wondering because I’m an international student, and the respond by deadline for my country is early June. I don’t know what the date is for Ivies (I applied to a few, such as Harvard and Dartmouth).

Yeah, I think May 1st is actually called “National College Decision Day” in America…or something like that…And April 1 is “National College Acceptance Day”…except IV’s are March 30 :p

Oh man, that’s a month before the Canadian respond-by date, and it’s also a few weeks before some of my programs (in Canada, obviously) release their decisions. One of my favourite Canadian university programs do not release decisions until late May! What to do…

Yeah I don’t think it’s binding or anything like that, especially since I would imagine that they would understand that international applicants are often in a different situation. You might lose your deposit though

Yeah, non binding response by May 1 (only non binding if you accept, obviously if you reject the place, that is that.) You can then unaccept the offer (if a waitlist comes through for example) but forfeit what is usually a couple hundred dollar deposit.

also if you are an international student who needs to make a decision before 1 April (Oxbridge students for example) harvard will, if they are going to accept you, give you a likely letter so as to let you know in a way in which you can make an informed choice.

This is not true; I am an international student holding an offer from Oxford and I do not have to accept or decline the place before Harvard releases its decision.
