<p>I just asked my friend and its a semester. There is one frat where you become a brother instantly though.</p>
<p>S pledged Fall '08 and was initiated mid-November so 2 1/2 months. He says every frat is different. The thing is, even after initiation, the new members still have a lot of responsibilities like clean up and errands but it is less than during pledging. He says it was great for him when the new pledges came in this semester because now he can just enjoy it.</p>
<p>Its typically 10-12 weeks. Active pledging typically begins the week after bid night and ends before stop days. As cc411 said, newly-initiated brothers will still be responsible for cleaning, etc. until new pledges arrive.</p>
