What is the wisest (may not be the best) premed major in UCs?

<p>Hello, Im an immigrant and I really really want to become a doctor. I live now in California. I read everywhere that UCs are the best universities to go to if I want to become a doctor. Since I’m an immigrant and already finished my first year of college in my home country, I’ll have to go through a very hard way to be able to go into an UC. It will really be hard for me because everything in here is different from where I used to be. haha. </p>

<p>According to a lot of people who helped me, I need to go to a CC first and complete the required requirements to be able to transfer into a UC. And to do that I first need to know the major pre-requisites of the major I what to enter and to have a very high GPA ( I want to have a very high percentage to be accepted. :P). So my question is, what do you think the major I should plan to take in any of UCs especially in Berkeley, Santa Cruz, or Davis? The major you think that it’ll be easy to get into, since I’ll be transfering, that’ll be easy to have a very high GPA and considered as a good pre med. </p>

<p>I’m sure that becoming a doctor is what I really want. I want to become a doctor because I really want to help people, to relieve people from their pain. haha. It sounds extremely cheesy but it’s the truth. I never wanted to become a doctor just because of money. (just sharing) :)) Thank you for those who will answer. :D</p>

<p>Almost any major in a subject that you like and are good at (so that you can get a high GPA) is a good major for pre-med. The only exceptions are those with a large number of requirements that do not overlap with pre-med requirements, so that you would not be able to fit all of the major’s courses and the pre-med courses into your eight semesters or twelve quarters.</p>

<p>Note that if you take pre-med courses at CCs, a small number of medical schools will not accept them, and some others may prefer to see some of the pre-med courses or upper division courses in those subjects taken at a four year school. However, it is usually not very practical from a schedule-packing perspective to wait until after transfer to a four year school to take all of the pre-med courses at the four year school.</p>
