<p>Hey, I’ve heard that you need a good voice that comes through in your essays. While my teachers have mentioned it and I’ve tried to figure out what it is, I still don’t really understand what having a ‘voice’ means…</p>

<p>I don’t know about an example, but in my opinion, voice is just what makes your writing stand out from the sea of other essays. Voice is YOU and what you sound like. Your essay should feel like only you could have written it, not a robot…not some other student with similar stats to yours… Voice is whether your writing has a hint of humor or a permeating seriousness, whether your writing is upbeat and fast-paced or a slow progression to an epic finish, whether you like to include complex metaphors and descriptions or prefer to be straightforward, to the point. Voice is your personality in writing.</p>
