What is worse???

Having a roommate that talks too much or does not talk to you at all except other people?? Mine is second one!

does not talk to you at all. least it'll be quite when you want it and you can play some music or something.

I would rather have a roommate that didn't talk to me. Generally when I'm in my room I don't want to talk to people while doing work. That would get awfully annoying to have an uber cheerful roommate, especially in the morning, because I'm the type of person that doesn't talk until about 10-11 o'clock.

^ exactly. there's a guy that i know that talks non stop and i am annoyed being around him 2-4 hrs... if we lived in the same apt... uhrm. no.

as long as u know ur roomate doesnt hate u, and they dont talk, thats great. Especially for guys.

Yeah, I wouldn't even want to be good friends with my roommate, its better just to mutually get along.

It's not the greatest to have a roommate that NEVER talks to you. My freshman year roommate was pretty terrible. We would go literally weeks between saying anything to each other, therefore I would have no idea where she was a lot of the time or what time to expect her back (sometimes I would just look at her away messages to figure it out if I hadn't seen her in a really long time and was starting to get worried). I just sort of started avoiding being in the room with her so I could avoid the awkward silence.

Couple that with the other annoying habits she had (messy, lazy, out till all hours smoking pot and drinking, and just generally grating on my nerves with her habits)...we were pretty much opposites and I'm not sure why we were put together.

So, in summary, yes, a roommate that talks less is probably less annoying if you're not a big talker (I'm not). But I basically went potluck again this year (because of my job) and it's been so much better. We actually communicate...but it's not in excess, and we both know to be quiet when the other one is working on something.

My freshman-year roommate ignored me and never talked to me either.

I now prefer my current roommates, who never talk to me either, but at least they have a reason (they're dogs ;-) :-P)
