Carrot cake or Italian Cream cake with lavish cream cheese frosting. German chocolate cake rounds out top 3.
I am not a big dessert person in general but am always happy to take a few spoonfuls of what others order when we are out. I particularly enjoy 2 things you rarely see anymore on restaurant menus - chocolate eclairs and strawberry shortcake. Both take me back to my childhood.
Good chocolate e-clairs. Chocolate layer cake with chocolate butter-cream frosting. Mint chocolate chip ice cream. Milk shakes. Warm gingerbread with homemade vanilla whipped cream. Cherry pie. Maine blueberry pie. Guess I don’t have a single favorite. I rarely eat dessert, but these are the ones that tempt me most.
I love mochi and sorbets. Also enjoy shortbreads. Actually I like many desserts—gelato dare yummy too.
Not really a dessert person. Coconut, pudding, whipped cream make me gag. It’s a texture/taste thing. I don’t like cake and never requested a birthday cake growing up. What I did ask for instead was fresh strawberries over old fashioned no sugar added biscuits. Fresh fruit is my weakness.
One phrase I can never relate to: “not really a dessert person”!!! But I grew up with sweets as a treat - and I enjoy baking.
I like yeast desserts, like yeast donuts. I guess they aren’t really donuts. Plain, no topping. A good cannoli would fit the bill as second best. I’d prefer a good coffee cake to a regular cake. Give me vanilla or carrot over chocolate cake.
Oh, I forgot about the little warm custard tarts served at a good dim sum place or Chinese bakery. I can’t control myself around those.
Also fantastic: the million great variations in East Asia/Pacific of shave ice with fruits, sweet red beans, coconut jelly, halo-halo, condensed milk, etc. The ones I had in Singapore were the stuff of dreams.
I love French pastries, second is pistachio ice cream, mint chocolate chip ice cream, and German chocolate cake
Do I have to name just one?
Creme brûlée
Cheesecake (with or without fruit topping)
Coconut cream pie (or just… really almost any well made pie)
A vanilla malt
A good, dense, moist chocolate cake
Chocolate-peanut butter ice cream
Lemon meringue pie, gooey butter cake, dark chocolate chip brownies, pineapple upside down cake, caramel pecan cake with caramel frosting, strawberry icebox pie, chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream frosting and dark chocolate ganache filling, chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream - none of which I’ve had in years. Sigh…
Hard to pick a favorite. Maybe warm fruit cobbler or pie.
My grandmother used to make a chocolate cake with chocolate chips, nuts (pecans or walnuts), brown sugar, and perhaps a bit of cinnamon between the layers in place of frosting there. It was frosted on the outside. I have always thought of this as “Lady Baltimore Cake,” but apparently that is something rather different. If anyone has encountered the type that was traditional in my family, I would really appreciate a recipe!
Bread pudding with vanilla ice cream!
Believe it or not, pineapple upside down cake. What’s not to love? Butter, brown sugar, and pineapple.
Dark chocolate cake. It’s phenomenal.
Frozen raspberries w/turbino sugar sprinkled over the semi-defrosted berries.
Coco rocks is my fav
I made sticky toffee pudding for a dinner party I attended. It got inhaled! It’s actually pretty easy to make so hubby requested I make another one.
I very rarely meet a dessert I don’t like, but I think I make my favorite desserts. I like simple like pound cake and angel food cake. I enjoy the froofy unusual desserts from restaurants, I like my homemade brownies, hubbies chocolate chip cookies. I make a mean souffle. I enjoyed when the mini doughnuts with various sauces were a thing.
It’s not like I don’t like chocolate, but it’s not my favorite. I prefer caramel to chocolate, cinnamon anything, most fruit things, most pies, most anything with coconut.
I don’t know why I have trouble controlling my weight!
