What is Your Favorite Dessert?

I’ve been going through my recipe files, looking for a dessert to make for a gathering this weekend. Still haven’t made a decision but the search led me to the question above: What are your favorite desserts? Very tough call for me…Cherry Pie; Chocolate Cream Pie; Mimi’s Coconut Layer Cake (my grandmother)…

Triple coconut cream pie recipe from Tom Douglas. It has coconut in the crust, mixed into the cream layer, and piled on top.

Just one? That’s tough.

I have to say fruit pies in general or a specialty cake like carrot cake or hummingbird cake or similar.

It’s like picking a favorite child. I can’t pick just one. Some of my frequently requested and personal favorites are peach and raspberry crisp, carrot cake, strawberry shortcake, and hot fudge brownie sundaes. They do have to be specific recipes, though.

Seasonal fruit

Nothing chocolate.

Seasonal fruit with Schaum Torte.

A favorite family recipe.

Crème brûlée, but I don’t make it.

Of the things I make sour cherry pie. Sour cherries are only in season a couple of weeks which is probably why it tastes extra good. My mother-in-law’s apple pie is simple and classic and really can’t be beat. For birthdays we always have a devil’s food cake made with soured milk. Vastly improved once we discovered ganache instead of old fashioned frosting.

Ours is simple - warm, homemade apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Tapioca pudding with taro, made with coconut milk is one of H’s favorites, served hot or cold.

@MaterS I had to google Schaum torte. So basically meringue like a pavlova?

Key lime pie, apple crisp, coconut cake. I don’t like regular pie crust or puddings.

I have a couple -
Moist carrot cake, with nuts, that doesn’t taste like spice cake.
Tiramisu, especially from Vacarro’s in Baltimore’s Little Italy
The Creme brûlée at one of our favorite local restaurants. It has a think layer of amazing chocolate under the custard stuff, and it is fabulous.

@doschicos

Yes. Unless you are a Badger born and bred like me then you use the German name.

Sour cherry pie with ice cream, German chocolate cake, Mozart torte with marzipan, a great custard eclair with chocolate ganache on top, pound cake with macerated strawberries.

Every summer, I make a key lime pie on a Graham cracker crust, topped with glazed blueberries. That’s the best thing I can make without sour cherries.

Dessert? Probably cheesecake with strawberries. I also adore ice cream. I will be buried with a scoop of pralines and cream ice cream.

Husband’s favorite is my apple pie. I had to make 20 of them for a dinner we were catering at church for a fund raiser.

Banana cream pie…and I don’t have it very often.

key lime pie. strawberry-rhubarb pie.

Well it really depends. There are times you need to have apple or blueberry pie and there are times that you need to have chocolate mousse or a chocolate tart or a chocolate ice cream/sugar cone. Hazelnut gelato is always one of my favorites… oh and what about a fresh batch of homebaked brownies or pecan pie. So hard to choose just one.

Hot peach cobbler, coconut cream pie, or warm homemade brownies.

Sour cherry pies (I GREw up,with a tree), blueberry pie, fresh fruit crisps, cannoli, napoleons
