What is your favorite food that you love ,even though it is not healthy ?

The first time we visited San Francisco we threw our rules out the window and treated our kids to a Giridelli Chocolate hot fudge sundae for lunch! They thought that was the coolest thing ever, having ice cream for lunch instead of dessert. Well, what are vacations for if you can’t break rules sometimes? :)

Rhubarb pie. No strawberries.

Lady Gaga cupcakes are made by a local bakery: cherry cake, vanilla custard filling and about an inch of pineapple buttercream frosting on top and sprinkled with edible glitter.

~~~~~
To add to the pie for breakfast discussion As a kid, my mom, who had been a home ec teacher, used to let us eat chocolate cake or pie for breakfast whenever we had it in the house. Her reasoning: cake, pie, coffeecake, or doughnuts–all about the same calories and really not any nutritional difference among them.
Love coconut macaroons and Wegman’s has yummy ones.
When I was a kid we ate cereals like Quisp and Cap’n Crunch for breakfast. These cereals are something like 50% sugar.
Pie and cake can’t possibly be worse than that. And at least with pie, you’re getting some fruit.
Actually, in the olden days when everyone lived on a farm, pie was the standard breakfast food. It was about the only fruit that most people ate, and it was a way to use up fruit before it became rotten. That’s why they invented pie safes – because farmers’ wives were making 6 or 8 or 10 pies at a time.
Just made a fresh batch of homemade chocolate pudding. Whenever the skim milk starts to get a little old-ish, it gets converted to chocolate pudding. It is sooo good right off the stove!
^^^
Really? 'Cuz DH is from a farm family (current farm has been in the family since before the Civil War). I remember spending time with his aunt out on the farm and she talks about the days before rural electrification (meaning no refrigerators or freezers). Even as far back as the 30’s–when she was a teenager-- the women in the family never baked huge quantities of pies (except for special occasions like pig killings or holidays or church auctions); they canned fruit on wood- or coal- fired cast iron stoves.
His aunt still had her coal stove in the summer kitchen behind her house. She liked to do her canning there. (Made the house too hot otherwise. No AC. No central heating either.)
french fries smothered with melted cheese & bacon
grilled cheddar & bacon
Navajo taco (Indian fry bread topped with refried beans, ground beef, red or green chile, shredded cheese, plus shredded iceberg lettuce and a few bits of chopped tomato to make it look healthy)
sopapillas drizzled with real honey
green chile cheeseburgers with a side of french fries
All these pages and no one has seconded Musica’s choice. Which I thought about before even opening the thread. Foie! I only eat it about once a year but damn it’s good.
Oh yes…In n Out burgers and fries. I don’t have any near me, but when in Calif, I always have to indulge.
Kettle corn (H hates it, I LOVE it)
chocolate covered almonds
cheesecake…yum at Cheesecake Factory where you each can get a different type and share.
Ruffles potato chips
BBQ potato chips
Strawberry Pie
Banberry Pie (bananas and strawberries)
Banana cream pie
And, as mentioned earlier, GOOD tortilla chips with salsa and guacamole. (but I have to buy the tortilla chips from restaurants because I can’t seem to find ones I really like in bags from stores.)
Donuts and cheesecake.
So I had pie for breakfast this morning – blueberry. Yum.
This is a good thing. My FIL who took a long time to warm up to me was finally won over by the fact that when they came to my house to visit I always offered him pie for breakfast. I make my own, so I know for a fact that is much healthier than most of what people eat for breakfast. And that’s my story and I am sticking to it.
I thought cold pizza was the perfect breakfast food!
Hostess Suzy-Q’s, DQ butterfinger blizzard, Taco Bell has a great mango-strawberry frustista, Sonic used to have a to-die-for BLT on Texas Toast but I didn’t see it last time, homemade caramel corn from my Dad’s recipe or next best thing from Nuts on Clark shops in Chicago area, McDonald’s French Fries…
No, I do not spend all my time at Fast Food Restaurants.
This thread is definitely starting to gross me out.
OP said favorite food *even * if it wasn’t healthy, not that being unhealthy was requirement
:wink:
I wonder if oysters are still in season?
^ Have to admit the description of the the Lady Gaga Cupcakes made me feeling a little ga-ga . . .
WayOutWestMom-I bow in the presence of greatness! I totally forgot that my homemade potato latkes, hand-grated and straight from the frying pan is my absolute favorite food, ranking even higher than dark chocolate and premium ice cream.
tango14-just thought I’d mention that Nuts on Clark @Midway airport is NOT open at 5 a.m. on Sunday. DH and I were disappointed to find that out when we passed by at that hour this very morning. :wink: And imagine that, that were having a sale! :)
Pineapple upside down cake.
