What jewelry would you treat yourself to?

Luckily I have a small tennis bracelet from the days when DH worked at a place where he got a large discount on things like this. It sits in my jewelry box, this has prompted me to take it out and wear it! What am I waiting for?

Ok—will go to safety deposit box and take out some of my jewelry that H had gifted over the years. Why let dust accumulate?

They are lovely pieces—just mainly wear wedding & engagement rings.

My wedding band cost about 70 dollars in 1996. My husband’s name is engraved in the inside. I didn’t get an engagement ring because I didn’t want to risk losing something expensive. For our 25-year anniversary, we went to a local jeweler and bought this $300 sapphire-and-tiny diamond anniversary band. It was made by the jeweler’s brother in Turkey in the 1970s. Other than these, I like to collect cool earrings. I still don’t like to wear anything too expensive!

For our 30th anniversary, I got a gorgeous pendant set with diamonds on a gold/platinum chain. The pendant is beautiful, not too big or not too small. Lots of folks have noticed and commented on how beautiful this is. Repurposed some of mom’s jewelry for this, at her urging. She was thrilled to see it - was the last piece of jewelry I bought that she did see. So, special in many many ways…

I found I don’t wear rings often. And I don’t usually wear stud earrings - I prefer long earrings.

I prefer long earrings, too, but if I can’t afford diamond studs I sure can’t afford diamond drops! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Under $800 from a reputable website:

Not long- but an elegant drop and the price is right!

I love Blue Nile. I’ve been looking at this ring, although I doubt I would ever splurge on it.

I have very plain taste except when I wear my Victorian antique heirlooms. So of everything posted I think the only thing I would wear is the Trinity ring. I hate bracelets. They move around and distract me. (Sometimes I think I’m a little on the spectrum!) After my Mom died I found a really plain opal ring which I now wear instead of original engagement ring which I never liked even though I chose it. (The second time the tiny little diamond fell out I chucked it!) My ring looks just like this:

I wear my mother’s original wedding ring rather than mine. It’s simpler, smaller and more my taste. I also like simpler things.

I guess the important thing is to be true to your own taste and knowing how and where and when you plan on wearing the jewelry. If everyday, will it be worn when washing dishes, showering, swimming, sleeping? How will it fare?

I have a hard time with bracelets. They snag my clothing and get caught on it. Sometimes they fall off as well—lost a nice silver bracelet that way. I mostly stick with necklaces, pendants and sometimes rings.

I have MANY brooches from my mother. The collection has some from herself and her mom as well as dozens more from her days buying/selling them online (most in in cases from craft shows). Plus quite a few that she gifted me over the years. Most are are sparkly and heavy, hard to wear as a pin. I’ve tried some adapter thingies ordered on amazon to use with necklaces, but they don’t work as well as I’d like. Keeping my eye out for something better.

So timely! We just had our 40th anniversary and H wanted to get me something with ruby. I began searching all the jewelry sites looking for something. Conclusion: rubies are not my thing. Big jewelry is not my thing, either.

I’m a blue sapphire fan. H and the guys got me a sapphire ring in yellow gold around our 15th anniversary. I often wear it with my gold Hebrew lettering wedding band (I don’t have an engagement ring). He got me a sapphire and diamond platinum anniversary band for our 25th. I wear this one occasionally because I don’t want to ruin it – I don’t take off my rings when gardening or cleaning. Most of the time I wear just the wedding band.

I’m not a fan of bracelets. Have lost them and I don’t like things that dangle off my wrist (a fitbit is fine). I need an extra long chain on necklaces, so I have one chain and several pendants, but I don’t wear them often.

Now I’m thinking about getting myself a ring. Debating between a stackable yellow gold with tiny sapphires to go with my wedding band and 15th anniv ring, or a platinum/white gold Hebrew lettered ring that’s pretty and subtle to go with the 25th anniv ring.

For those who are fans of artisan jewelry, I’ve liked some of the things from Sundance. I’ve never purchased anything but I like the idea that many of the items are not styles that you see on everyone.

I have a lot of really nice pieces from Tiffany & DY that feel too fancy to wear on a daily basis (with my typical leggings & sweatshirt attire). I love the pieces but in hindsight, would love things that I can wear every day. I stopped putting on jewelry of any kind during the Covid shutdown and I’ve struggled to get back into the habit of wearing it.

Any suggestions here on flat back earrings (studs)? Any brand names to look for/you would recommend? D mentioned that she’d like to get some of these and I was looking around for one for her birthday. Maison Miru pops up - but the reviews appear to be mixed.

I have a big anniversary coming up and I’m asking for Mikimoto pearl stud earrings. They’re beautiful.

If it’s a big anniversary, may I suggest you ask for Mikimoto pearl stud earrings and matching necklace? I am a big fan of diamond and pearl pieces and I wear them almost everyday.

I was just about to say that my choice would be Mikimoto pearls!

DH gave me a lovely strand of pearls and studs for our first anniversary. I wear them a lot, most recently at our son’s wedding. They never go out of style and can be worn with just about anything.

If you are allergic (even mildly) to silver, consider gold from Russia or some formal SU places that can be found in many consignment places. It is more rose color than any other gold. Russian gold has copper instead of silver in the mixture. It is the only type I can wear continuously.
