Hello, before I go to college I was thinking, maybe I should start working to build up experience so my chances of getting hired are better because I would have more experience. My question is what are some jobs that are related to this field that would prepare you for your marketing degree and that would help you land a job? One more question is how do the payments work when you go to college? Do you pay while your attending or can you pay once you get your job, because I don’t know how I am going to afford college yet. Thanks.

It sounds like you’ll have to take loans out to afford college. Those loans will be paid back after you graduate; otherwise, you pay before the beginning of every semester.

Honestly, I feel that the easiest way for a teenager to get involved with marketing is to work in retail, such as the fashion industry. Working for the big names like Gap, American Eagle, A&F, Hollister, etc. will help you see how promotions work, and you’ll be able to ask the manager if you could work with him or her on special projects. Don’t ask right away; build a relationship by doing your job well, then politely ask.

If retail doesn’t suit you, then I’ll leave it to others to help you because most internships will want you to be a college student who has at least taken a few business courses.
