No Macs, no Chromebooks. What kind of PC should I get for B School?

  • Must haves: fast, powerful, good battery and an optical drive
  • Don't care about: perfect resolution, gaming, perfect speakers (but they can't be too bad), the screen folding back (Ie: Lenovo Yoga(s))

** no tablet hybrids either

Thinkpad L440, maybe?

For ~$930, you get a pretty beefy i7 (4712MQ), acceptable (900p) screen, a 100 watt-hour battery (pretty big), and an optical drive. You can swap out the hard drive for a solid state, if you want (cheaper than during configuration). Get the AC wifi upgrade, it’ll probably be worth the $20.
