What kind of ECs do admitted Haas students have?

What kind of ECs would an applicant need to be accepted to Haas?

Leadership positions, job experience, internship. Demonstrate that you’re a leader in whatever you do. Be well-rounded.

Ideally, what HockeyGiant said. For leadership positions, you can try Student Government/Council (whatever they call it at your college). That’s always a good one. As well, if there are any business orientated clubs at your college - sign up and try to take leadership there. If there isn’t any, create one with the help of a professor and other students, ect.

Because you HAVE TO submit a resume - they are looking for work experience and internships. This doesn’t include working at Baskin Robins or Gap, unless you’re an assistant manager or shift manager, ect. Try to find business-related work, clerical if any. As well, volunteering in a non-paid position is perhaps even viewed higher than a paid one (IMO).

You don’t have to perfect - you just need to have some valuable experience. In other words, don’t think the students who have created a internet business and has a high paid position in a business office as being the ideal candidate. They aren’t looking for professionals, they’re looking for students who have excellent leadership skills and potential for further growth.

Hi Ocnative,
I would like to clarify about the balance of leadership in Cal (Haas) or outside of campus. Like everyone says, it is extremely difficult to get leadership position on campus. There are so many students but only so few position available. If a student has no leadership position on campus clubs but has leadership role outside of school like non-profit organization as VP etc. Also, would working summer job as intern for a small import trading co. satisfy the job experience requirement?
