Should I get a Laserjet, or will a regular officejet work?
How many pages do you usually print out a semester?

I am concerned whether to spend a little more on a laser and for
the laser cartridge, but have enough pages to print so its more
worthwhile in the end. I am looking at HP, they have small enough
printers that could fit on the desk right?

Thanks for any help and advice!!

Inkjet is usually fine… just print on draft.

get one with a scanner, they’re only a little more expensive than a regular printer and so incredibly useful, and an office jet is fine, no need for a laser printer.

there are cheapo laser printers out there from HP and the toner lasts well over 1500+ pages. might look into that if you have no need of color printing.

are there scanners available in libraries and stuff on campus?

it would probably be much more convenient to have a printer/scanner/copier all in one.

^^^^ I agree, I got one last year for like, $30. Just make sure whichever model you end up picking doesnt screw you over on ink prices

Also remember that it’s not necessary to haul one with you. They often have relatively cheap ones at Target and stuff.

i have a color laser printer. most of my other friends have regular laser printers

my experience with cheap all-in-ones is that they suck equally at everything they do. the printer gobbles up ink like crazy, the scanner is extremely slow and the copier is a combo of both.

the only good one i’ve had was a high-end HP one that was about $400

hm…what would be better
- wireless laserjet (black)
- color printer, scanner, copier, inkjet
- Laser color printer that is massive

I bought an HP p1006 and have been using it for about a month. It is great. it is laser, has a small footprint and spits out pages really quick. Was only about $99 on amazon I think and the remanufactured cartridges are only about $25
