I would say I am a “hooked” applicant- I have a lot of unique things about me (background, interesting legacy, interesting/award winning research, involvement with Yale) and a good GPA (4.5 weighted) though my SAT score, superscored, is a mere 2240. I have a 800 Math 2 and a 740 Physics (which I just retook…I’m feeling much better this time!). Looking at the SCEA thread, the scores are all 2300+. Will my score hurt me? Should I retake?

BTW ask me for a detailed description of my stats. I want to be chanced.

^LOL @ a mere 2240. The 2240 surely won’t hurt–you look better than some of the applicants on the Pledge thread, TBH, with everything (have you looked at the pledge thread? Oh my god! I mean that as a compliment). Maybe a sub-680 in a section hurts…? Or sub-2150 composite?

I was about to ask the same question. Mine is 2250, which at my school is amazing, but…seeing to all of the 2350+'s on here that are applying to yale as well is starting to worry me. at least you [OP] have some hooks!

Also…I got two 660’s in the french and bio subject tests. do you think those will hurt me? I just retook bio last week and am positive I raised it to at least a 750+. But…I just hate seeing a number in the 600’s on my eli account page lol. I have 3 others [chem, mathI, mathII] in the 700’s so will yale look at the highest and completely disregard thee lower subject tests?

The order in which you received those scores is also important.
To work your way up from 2100 to 2240 to 2350 says a lot more than the other way around.

megavortex, i actually had a 2240 too, though it was in a single sitting. i really believe sat scores do count for something, and in my case i thought it was especially important that i do as best as i can (very rigorous school & to put my not-so-hot 3.8 gpa in context) so i retook and got a 2350. i wasn’t focused as much on breaking 2300 as i was on the fact that i absolutely knew i could do better.

(which strangely enough is exactly what the poster above me wrote. lol)

and about the pledge thread–whaaa?!? everyone on there basically is a 4.0 valedictorian with 2350+.
