I’m wondering what kind of scholarships I would be eligible for if I end up doing my undergrad in the US. Also, would these scholarships be dependent on my family’s financial status, or would they be purely merit-based?
It depends. Some schools actually award aid to Canadian students in the same way as U.S. Citizens…except you would not be eligible for U.S. federally funded need based aid.
In addition, your coats for public universities would be OOS costs.
You would have to check college websites. Some offer merit aid or need based aid to Canadian citizens. Others don’t.
You wrote the below a week or two ago. Has something changed in regards to needing aid???
Are your parents saying that they won’t pay the $65k+ for the top schools that you’re applying to?

Yes, I’m talking about merit aid, not need based financial aid. Also, I’m curious if there are any other private organizations that offer scholarships based on merit. For example, in Canada there is the Loran Scholarship which offers $80,000 to 30 people each year.
