What are some schos you would recommend I should apply to with these stats?
SAT: 660 Writing 790 Math 610 Writing
PSAT: 193
ACT: 32
GPA: On my school weighted 100 point scale: 101.1
On 4 point: 3.9 UW 4.4 W
I’ve also taken 7 AP courses, all the ones offered at my school and plan to take 5 next year. I’m also taking 2 SAT subject tests in a couple of weeks. I am in my school’s band and have an important leadership position. I do community service through band, church and my sister’s gym.

Home State? How much can you and your family afford? Intended major? What type of school? Large/Small/Urban/Rural/Public/Private? Need financial aid? Any areas of the country of interest? OOS or in-state?
I’m currently in Texas and don’t want to go anywhere instate. I want to go into Engineering. I would rather go to a larger public school, but that isn’t that important to me. Without taking into account money, I was just wondering what caliber school I would be likely to fit in at.

Wait, why do you want to leave the state? If its to get away from your home and be out of access from your home, then schools like Texas A&M (Ever heard of byran Tx) might be worth considering.
lessonwitch2, my family is moving to Michigan a year after I graduate, so I am looking at schools near there, Illinois, Michigan, Purdue. I’m also looking at schools in California Such as Berkeley and UCLA.
With those stats, I think you have a pretty decent chance of getting into a large number of schools. You said you want to do engineering,right? A reach school for engineering would be MIT. What kind of campus do you want? What is your price range? What state would you like to be in? Do you want to be at a conservative school or liberal school? Religious oriented or Non-Sectarian?
@good101 Yes, engineering. I am applying to MIT through QuestBridge. I would like to go to a larger school, I don’t have a large price range, but I qualify for Need-based aid. I would like to be in either the midwest, or in California. I am also looking at mainly pubic schools.
Well,unless you live in the state you will have to pay a higher “out of state” tuition. Have you thought about going to a public school in your state? I don’t know much about colleges in that region. I live near the east coast so I could give you information on colleges in that region. Is it required that the school needs to be in the Midwest or are you willing to be flexible?
Also, if you have any family members that are alumni of any colleges you could go there at a discount.Some schools will let you go there for free.

I would only go in Texas as a last resort, my family is leaving after I graduate. I have a lot of family members who graduated from Michigan and one is a professor there. But, yes I am flexible. Nothing is set until I get accepted.
