What Kind Of Snob Are You???

I forgive grammar and typos on any sort of message board or post it note.

I can’t stand it on any official writing. At school I allow it on tests (unless spelling is part of the test), but never on projects.

The common ones about coffee, beer and wine…doesn’t have to be expensive, just good.

Me and my husband tend to roll our eyes and privately mock people who aren’t “real” or are too braggy. We’ve had plenty of exposure to those types. It has nothing to do with income, just personality. We’ve totally ruined ‘Top Gun’ for our kids.

Last one I can think of…as a paying passenger, I almost exclusively fly Delta. Occasionally Alaska or Southwest, but only if it’s far more convenient. Anyone else (unless I am forced to by my company, which is rare)…no.

Yes! Since we discovered it, we now only go to over age 21 theaters. No kids, really good popcorn with real butter, great seats, service at your seat, with very tasty wine! I can’t go to a regular theater anymore.

Oh, and Disney we can take or leave - though I doubt we’ll ever go again after my mom was treated so horribly by some (workers) with her cancer last spring on our last trip when all she mainly wanted to do was stroll Epcot (on a scooter) watching the street performers and similar as a pretend trip to Europe (a place she can’t go again). It’s really soured me on Disney overall.

My kids have gone a few times, but once older (10+) and given choices they always picked somewhere else - even other Theme Parks like Busch Gardens - but usually other natural attractions like beaches or mountains. There are many fabulous places one can go instead for the same amount of money. Disney gets old quickly in our family. I will admit that when we go we’re Polynesian snobs… but we liked it better before the last renovation.

Hmmm - Having read many of these responses, I think I’m just a flat-out snob!

No low-fat or fake foods for me - real whole milk or nothing
Coffee - I must grind it at home or it’s not ‘real coffee’
Good wine - the sticker price does not dictate if it is good or not
Colleges - well, I won’t go into that - bit me in the butt last year and I’m still paying for it.
Cars - German or nothing
Hotels - I like a spot of luxury, but always shop for deal - Hotel Tonight is my buddy when traveling on-the-fly
People - I confess, I avoid fellow snobs!

I am an egg snob- I only buy eggs from the Farmer’s Market or a local farmer. I prefer dark chocolate, whole bean Guatemalan coffee from a particular roaster, local restaurants- no chains or fast food. Also, I won’t eat or drink anything low fat or with fake sugar. Wow, I sound really picky.

I’m an egg snob too! Eggs from our local free range chickens are OK – but I prefer duck eggs whenever possible. If you’ve never used duck eggs for baking, give them a try! They are amazing; much richer than chicken eggs!

Thanks @cameo43 , I’ll give it a try the next time I go to the Farmers Mkt!

I am a hotel/ vacation rental snob. I don’t like chain hotels and will spend way too many hours researching something special. My friends give up and let me do the research and selection. I am very meticulous about the quality, cleanliness, location and views, usually opting for a vacation rental over a hotel.

If you saw my ‘ride’ you’d know that I fail miserably as a car snob, although I do lust after a Tesla for some strange reason.

I am a honey snob. I only buy local from our neighborhood beekeepers. The store brands are suspect.

Oh… I just remembered. I am a serious 2% milk snob! I will not put anything else in my coffee. I always ask for it in restaurants and coffee shops. And I can tell when the milk they bring is not 2%. I politely set it aside and don’t put anything in the cup.

I’m a stapler snob. Only a Swingline for me. Red preferably. :))

^ You and my H!!!

Is his name Milton?

For those of that don’t know, those are scenes from a classic movie called Office Space. A red Swingline stapler didn’t actually exist, but the movie made it so popular that Swingline started producing it.

Where to begin? Where to begin?

Wine- Life is too short for bad wine.
Audio gear - more tubes please, less solid state
Hotels - Ritz, Four Seasons, or equivalent
Beaches- Crowded beaches are an affront

Ah yes audio gear. Big fan of British speakers: KEF Reference series and Bowers & Wilkins.

@TatinG, my D’s bf’s parents are beekeepers. So we get organic honey right from the source.

I didn’t think I was much of a snob. I do like good shoes and good workout clothes.

But I’ve decided I’m an Apple snob, both kinds. Honey crisp for eating. Apple products for electronics.

I’m still trying to break five minutes for a Monday NYT puzzle. You can also challenge yourself by doing the early week puzzles in ink if you don’t do them on line.

I’ve been to Disneyland, refused to go to Disneyworld when it first opened and I was in high school. My kids have never been. Luckily my son’s best friends had similarly minded parents, so they weren’t alone. They’d been to more places in the world than their friends. I just find theme parks boring. You stand in line. You sit in something that carries you past a bunch of fake stuff. Rinse and repeat. (I did like the haunted house holograms in the original Disneyland - I’d never seen anything like that before.) I’m not fond of being scared - so I don’t really like roller coasters either.

I seem to be incapable of typing grammatically - I drop s’s, type their instead of there. I once even typed flower instead of flour. So I am apt to forgive a lot. Except loose for lose. Oh I hate that one!

It definitely pays to know where your honey comes from since a sizable chunk of what is sold as honey, really isn’t.
Anybody watch Netflix’s documentary series on food called Rotten? It’s very well done. They had a very interesting and informative episode entitled Lawyers, Guns, and Honey.

Same with olive oil.

I am fussy about egg safety-- I never order them in a restaurant, and have taken to using my sous vide to pasteurize the raw eggs I buy. (135º for 75 minutes has been proven to kill all bacteria.)

After years of avoiding soft-boiled and sunny side up eggs due to the salmonella risk, we are enjoying them again.
