What Kind Of Snob Are You???

Orange juice snob - Tropicana pure premium.
Sheets - no pilling polyester
hotdogs - Kosher only. My friend wanted to buy a cheap off-brand for a multifamily get-together
No Pepsi – Coke. This reaches back to my parent’s Georgia/Atlanta roots. Dr. Pepper is OK because they are Texas and not in the fight
People who litter - as a young child in the 70’s, the schools did a great job brainwashing me to never litter. I particularly hate to see a dirty diaper on the ground - Who does that?!? Do they live in a barn?!? Find a trash can!

Ketchup - must be Heinz. And mustard too, for that matter. French’s yellow and nothing else.

I am a snob snob. By that I mean, I don’t like people who won’t mix with other types of people or who only go to the trendy luxurious places when they travel. There are those in my crowd who won’t go to certain places because the accommodations aren’t five star, places like national parks. They write off whole regions of the country as being beneath them either culturally or educationally and they won’t visit and expand their thinking.

Says one who is spending her next vacation in Appalachia, where most in my circle wouldn’t venture.

While electric vehicles may have fewer moving parts, they still do have some, like the wheels, axles, motors, coolant pumps, fans, wipers, doors, door handles, windows, etc…

We are window snobs. Real wood sashes with true divided light, custom made.

I’m a car snob, on my second Mercedes (but I do buy them three-year used.) I will drive my husband’S old truck on occasion.

Partial travel snob. When I travel with DH to a conference, I’ll only fly first class. His company flies him first class and there is NO WAY I’m sitting in the back. =))

Running shoes and athletic clothes. Like quality of the better brands. Not sure I’m a snob exactly about cosmetics and shampoo etc, but I don’t use drugstore brands.

Maybe he likes being on the beach all the time, so why pay more to be far from the beach?

Being homeless on or near the beach in a warm climate is probably one of the less bad situations to be homeless in.

BBQ

We have a smoker, and I used to live in Memphis. Inferior Q just doesn’t cut it anymore.

Books. Although my taste in books isn’t really that high-brow, there are authors/books that I definitely consider “beneath me.”

Cleanliness snob. I can’t stand dirty homes.

Time snob. I can’t stand people who are late to anything (unless there’s a real emergency, of course).

Food - too much to mention. I can eat anything if I have to, but I avoid most foods in a regular supermarket, and I think most restaurants don’t hold a candle to home cooking.
Travel - spending days on the beach will drive me crazy.
Spelling mistakes make me cringe, especially from otherwise well-educated people. Grammar ones are OK, I’m not that great myself.

@ucbalumnus Oh he likes being by the beach, he got a few nights at a hotel and didn’t like it so he went back, but he was definitely making a joke about the next town (which is also on the beach) when he said it to me. I often give him a ride when I see him around, as we pull up to the back he says things like, “how do you like my backyard?”

Ketchup snob - me too - only like Heinz

Hotel snob - sort of. I like nice hotels but doesn’t have to always be the fanciest. We go to national parks, we stay at low level chains when visiting colleges and don’t have many choices, but if I have a choice I usually try to pick a nicer one. I was a pretty big Disney hotel snob (inherited from my mom) - when we first moved to FL DH wanted to take me to Disney but we didn’t have much money. He said we would go and stay in Kissimmee, I said I;d rather not go than stay there. Realized right away that was very snobby but as a kid I had never gone and stayed away from the park so it sounded crazy to me!

Grammar/writing. I definitely judge people who use poor grammar and who don’t know how to put together a sentence.

Doctors. I only go to doctors who were trained at top institutions.

Home construction. My house or apartment has to have plaster walls, solid wood floors, and wood base/crown/doorway moulding. Picture moulding is nice too. No plaster-board or carpet over plywood.

Since all US medical schools (and probably many non-US medical schools) are elite as far as admissions goes (i.e. “reach for everyone”), wouldn’t that be not much of a distinguishing factor between physicians?

Climate snob (particularly with regard to humidity). I guess that’s one reason why we pay so much to live here.

You’ve got the hang of this! I guess we ARE a bunch of snobs on CC!

Theatre seating. Yes, it would be cheaper to sit in the balcony…but I’m paying to see a great production, I want to SEE it…in orchestra center…within the first 20 rows.

Cheese and bread snob - gotta have a decent crust on that baguette!
Maybe reverse-dog snob - rescues all the way!

  1. Travel. Mostly because I’m a homebody. It has to be very nice for it to be worth it to me to travel. But nice used to be a middle of the road Marriott or Westin … now I’m a Ritz or Four Seasons or high end Marriott ( like JW Resort hotel). In places where those aren’t option I do the nicest thing possible like a top rate Hampton or Hilton Garden Inn.

And for the last few years I will only fly business or first. I’m done with coach unless there is absolutely no choice like onky flights that work are on Southwest. And I always have lounge access. Will not sit at a gate. Interestingly this is my one snob thing that seems to really shock people. And these are people whose homes and cars are double the price of mine.

  1. Clean and uncluttered house snob. Can’t stand it in messy homes. Yuck.
