What kind of student am I?

Hey parents. I may be posting this in the wrong forums, but I feel I must open up to someone. I am in a very … “unique” situation. And this is causing me to panic.

I have completed 13 years of schooling (till grade 11) at India’s top ranked school. Due to some unavoidable circumstances, I shifted to Belgium and am currently doing my 12th grade here. For those of you who don’t know, every student in India must give a ‘Board Exam’ conducted by the government’s Board of Education IF they finish their 12th grade in India.

As is a well known fact, the International Baccalaureate doesn’t allow one-year students to take the IB exam. At my new school, my schedule is:

IB Higher Level Math, IB Higher Level Physics, IB Higher Level Economics, AP Chemistry and AP English Lit. But remember, this is just for one year, since I am in grade 12.

I will be giving the AP Calc BC, AP Physics C - Mech, AP Microeconomics, AP Chemistry and AP English Lit exams in May next year (After the college decisions are out)

So in the end, neither will I have a a board certificate from India, nor the IB certificate. Just a school passing academic diploma from my current school. I have always been in the top three of my class both at my previous school and my new school. It just doesn’t feel right to me, to do so much hard work and not have something widely recognized. Colleges do recognize my current school’s academic diploma but I feel like I am settling for much less doing all the hard work that I have done.

When I think of all this, an inferno of sadness, anger and nostalgia swarms inside of me.

Tl:dr? CBSE student for 13 years, taking IB HL classes (but not the tests), taking AP tests after university decisions are announced, am being given a school diploma instead of a board certificate or IB certificate. Been in the top 3 of class in both schools since ever.

What would you tell your S/D if they were in a similar situation?

Do you best! You have and admirable curriculum.
Once you are enrolled in college; the HS certificates will not matter.

And the colleges will ALSO get copies of the course transcripts from your schools. You are not getting short changed or “settling” for less. It’s fine.
