what kind of volunteer/ extracurricular activities look the best?

I’d like to transfer to the University of Memphis next year, but I’m an OOS student and I’d never be able to afford the tuition.
Their honors program offers “Non-Resident Honors Student Awards” which is basically just a waiver that allows the student to pay in-state tuition. They only offer 30 a year on a competitive basis, with incoming freshman receiving primary consideration.
I’d really just like any advice on what I can do to make my application standout, whether it be academic or community service-wise or anything.
I’ll have a (relatively) high gpa, somewhere around a 3.8, a founding officer of a community service club/anthropology club (having held several different positions), honors student, and member of another community service club.
What more should I do?

{posting in both ‘Financial Aid and Scholarships’,and ‘College Admissions’, because I’m not sure which one is more appropriate}

Almost without exception, awards go to freshmen only unless there is a specific transfer award. That is in general as I do not know about that particular college.

This is only generic advice. It will mainly depend on academics, be it your college transcript and/or the HS one if you don’t have enough credits to be admitted on college alone.

Outstanding accomplishment in your school community, Phi Theta Kappa whatever helps. The high gpa and anything you do that you are interested in. Nothing specific matters except transfers generally need to be specific about academic goals and preparation for that major. But no one cares if your ECs are in one area or another, as long as they are in an area of interest to you.
