What kinds of scholarships are out there?

I’ve been recently looking at scholarships, and I always seems to get terrible results.

I try to use a bunch of different scholarship websites, but they all give me one that are for counties that are in other states (I live in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan A.K.A. pretty much nowhere), ones that are unrelated to my intended major, and ones that are related to religion…

I’m really just looking for scholarships that have to do with the sciences, specifically Biology. I also know 4 languages so maybe one that correlates with foreign language or cultural immersion?

I WOULD apply to the local scholarships we have, but many of them aren’t available until April of next year…

I’m also looking to apply for merit-based scholarships. Just general ones really.

I truly feel like I’m just looking in the wrong places, so I’m posting this to see if people can help me out with my situation.

Lmk and I can give some information if that somehow helps out…

Thanks a lot!

So what is your GPA? What are your SAT or ACT scores? What is your class rank?

The best scholarships come directly from the colleges where you get accepted. But you need to apply to places where your stats are above the 75%ile for admitted students.

Where are you applying to colleges?

As a Michigan resident you are actually quite lucky because you have some excellent schools instate like U Michigan and MSU that offer merit or need based aid.

@thumper1 GPA is 3.83 UW, SAT is 1300 (Low, but I’m taking ACT in October), Class Rank top 10%. I’m appying to both U of M and MSU, but I want to see what scholarships I can get outside of those schools…
