What little things bother you?

I stated why she doesn’t sit in the front. She thinks it’s more social in the back. Which it is not. However, this particular woman talks constantly to everyone she passes and to the bus driver - which also distracts her from being careful. I think what it comes down to is that she simply doesn’t want to admit that she has a significant disability. But there is absolutely no question about that, as she uses either a can or a walker and still struggles. The aisle on an express bus is quite narrow, and she has to be in the 300+ weight range, so imagine the cane or walker, the woman, and a crowded bus with standees.

She makes me absolutely nuts. I grind my teeth, flare my nostrils, clench my fists. It’s all I can do to not say something to her. But she legitimately is disabled, so I restrain myself. But it’s tough.

Even disabled people can be less than discourteous. They don’t get a pass. You have a legit complaint.
The bus driver should ask her every day to sit up front for safety reasons–both hers and yours. And they should make sure they do–so when she falls the bus company can say “told you so”. If she falls on someone and hurts them she’s the one responsible.

She doesn’t slip or fall every day - she could. She’s just slow and bangs into everyone. I don’t want to make it as if she is in imminent danger or death, she isn’t. But I would bet she qualifies for Access-a-Ride.

Here is something that bugs me. Guys (and it is usually guys) who lean over and blow their noses onto the sidewalk or path by plugging one nostril and just snorting snot out. UGH. I was behind someone when trail running today who did it. I’m thinking, “I was about to put my FOOT in that spot, you jerk!”. But I did not say it (but I did pass him and beat him to the parking lot) They could carry Kleenex or a bandanna in their waistband or pocket (as I do). Ick.

@intparent, yuck yuck yuck. I have to say I have never seen that. Spitting grosses me out but that would make me gag. I can’t stand to be walking along and seeing a big splat of spit on the sidewalk. Why do people do that???

You just THINK it is spit. :frowning:

Snot rockets are a big thing in rural areas

@zoosermom – It sounds like the woman on the bus is disabled in ways that are not only physical.

“Chance Me” posts.

Obese people on airplanes that sit next to you and then lift the arm rest so that they can spill into your seat.

Commercials and sitcoms in which husbands and fathers are the subject of ridicule. So trite and unfunny. No wonder the percentage of men that will commit to marriage is falling.

I hate the expression, “We’re pregnant.”

Only one of you is pregnant. I don’t care that it’s supposed to sound inclusive; to me, it just sounds ignorant.

Not understanding the word ‘temporary’. Assuming that if something is done, allowed, given once then it is something that must continue to be done, allowed and given. Things that bug me…an overdeveloped sense of entitlement and the lack of an ability to say ‘thank you’.

The storm was an individual event. The roads are repaired. Your neighbors gave access to private roads DURING the emergency. It was not ever intended to be a new and permanent right of way.

I guess no good deed goes unpunished.

As my dad used to say, there is nothing more permanent than a temporary thing.

@LuckyCharms913 - I agree! My husband wasn’t pregnant, I was. We were both expecting.

This may sound odd but a thing that really bothers me is hero worship. Grow up people. There are no human beings who are perfect, who haven’t done something immoral, criminal, creepy, against the law, sexist, abusive, racist, bigoted, you name it.

I know what you mean about hero worship. I know some past and present professional baseball players. As one of their mothers once said, “They’re just ordinary people with cool jobs.”

People with more than the allowable number of items in the express check-out at the grocery store. I was in Wal-mart and had reached the cashier with a few items when a woman with a full cart came up behind me. In my sweetest, most helpful voice ever, I told her she was in the express lane and she need to be “over there.” She muttered something and went “over there” to get in line. The cashier thanked me and said they are not allowed to tell anyone they have too many items for their line yet other customers get mad at the cashier when someone breaks the rules.

Self check-out lanes in retail stores, especially when they’re the only option except for one regular (retro?) register that has 10 people in line because they don’t want to use the self check-out. Could the store be saying any more clearly “shop somewhere else”?

I would say that half the time when i use the self check-out lane, I need help anyway. Kind of defeats the purpose.

I’m glad you were sweet and helpful. Because appearances can sometimes be deceptive. I often purchase custom items from the bakery at my supermarket and they have to be paid for at a specific cash register, which is also the 12 or less. Most of the time, I pick up and pay for those items after I check out with the rest of my things, but not always. When I buy those items, I always have a cart with other (more) things in it. Usually, they are in bags and have already been paid for, but sometimes I have to finish shopping and check out at the regular cashier. I can’t tell you how often people get nasty with me about it. I would have thought having the rest of the cart in bags would give a clue, but nope. I’ve noticed, because this happens a lot, that I almost always get comments or nastiness, but no one ever says anything to my husband when he is the one checking out. Probably because he looks like a professional wrestler!

My supermarket also doesn’t have self check-out, and doesn’t allow shoppers to bag their own items. Which is another small thing that annoys me.
