Fall in New England
Sitting in a hot tub in Palm Springs in Winter
A snow day
When I think my child has been murdered or abducted because she didn’t respond to calls and text messages on the morning of an early morning flight and then she calls to tell me she overslept (and missed her flight).
A new book from a favorite author and an empty weekend in which I can read it.
Have a nice time with friends or family always puts a smile on my heart.

Figuring out where to strategically search for a misplaced item (after tidying up to find it) and then finding it where you carefully and strategically look! (Side benefit is reduced clutter.)
Reading the bragging thread on CC…
When my phone rings and the caller ID shows it one of my kids.
The fact that both DW and DD would rather shop at Goodwill than the mall.
Waking up every morning and looking out the window. It’s beautiful here even when it’s raining.
The smell of pine needles and campfires
-Morning sunlight and big, east-facing windows (which I have in abundance)
-The smell of coffee (at least as much as the taste.)
- Wandering anywhere that’s new.
- Painting theater backdrops alone in a cavernous space…or with the actors rehearsing…the moment the curtain rises.
- Baroque music in the car…does something to my brain.
-The pomp and pageantry of my kid’s marching band.
-Building the morning campfire while everyone’s still sleeping in the tent (thanks @Choatiemom!)
-The moment I pick up my daughter after school and her cheery “Hi Mom!”
-Just about anything my pets do. Cannot live without them.
-Propelling myself up a steep hill, jaunty little dog at my side.
-Spontaneous chats with neighborly people.
-Sweeping the floor of pet fur (the one daily chore that I enjoy)
-Anything and everything about spring. Especially the smell of thawing earth. And the birds nesting. And the green shoots poking up. And…
A perfectly made grilled cheese sandwich (tomato soup optional).
@Mansfield - For a special treat, add a thin slice of tomato inside before grilling. Dipping in tomato soup is optional.
