What looks better on the college application?

I don’t know whether I want to participate in the LEAD program more or do community theatre in the summer time.

I love theatre. I’ve done it all 3 years of high school (I’m currently a junior). I’ve always landed significant roles in the high school productions. I’ve scored the lead role for this year’s One-Act competition production. I can do Lakewood, which is America’s oldest theatre – up here in Maine. I think I’d get a relatively good role for a new-comer.(not to sound pompous).

However, I also want to do business when I grow older. My parents run a small business too, so I’ve always felt this attraction for the business world. I think I’d like to attend LEAD (that’s IF I make it in… I heard it’s pretty hard for Asians to get in) to get more insight on the business field-- to see if it’s something I really want to do.

Either way, both are appetizing to me.

Sadly, it boils down to : what looks better on my college application?

By the way – is it really that much harder for Asians to get into LEAD?

Thanks for your time.

It’s not a matter of what looks better on an app; it’s what you enjoy more.

With that out of the way… Why not continue with theater? It looks like you really enjoy it. Besides, you have plenty of time for business in college.

Bump…

Don’t waste you teenager-hood doing stuff because you might decide to have a career in it later or because it will look good on a college app. Do and show passion for what you love, and then write about that passion in your app essay.
