I don’t know what college major would be best for me to. I want to help low income communities (Oakland, Baltamore, SS Chicago ect.) reach out of poverty and make them safer but I also want to live a comfortable lifestyle. I was thinking about majoring Economics, or Political Science but I’m not sure. Are these good majors or is there a better major that suits me?
For what you want to do, most majors in the humanities/social sciences will do. Political science is probably good, as is economics, and sociology is probably aligned most with your interests. Poli sci and economics are found at almost all colleges, and sociology is found at a lot, but sometimes combined with anthropology or psychology. For more specific majors, you can look into majors such as Public Policy, Development Studies, and Urban Studies, although these are hard to find. Keep in mind, though, at some colleges you have the option of creating your own major, so this could be an option if all else fails. As for the second part of your question, a lot of these majors probably won’t end up in six digit salaries, but if you love your major and love your job, that’s the most important thing.
