<p>RISD is good in most artistic majors. However,they are most well known for graphic design.</p>
<p>RISD is probably the best known of the nation’s independent arts schools and is highly regarded in nearly all of its fine arts and design majors. Its architecture, industrial design, and graphic design majors, in particular, are frequently singled out for recognition as being among the top programs in those fields. </p>
<p>Admission to RISD is very selective and you will be surrounded by very creative and talented students. The school also has an amazing number of studios and specialized facilities like textile looms, prototype machines, kilns, etc. You will get an excellent education in any of the majors RISD offers. In the first year, every RISD student takes exactly the same curriculum (Foundation Studies), regardless of major, and it’s a pretty intense indoctrination. </p>
<p>What exactly do you mean by “prestige” and why do you care about it? You really ought to study what you love. One’s own talent/skill, motivation, and work ethic are more important for success than what particular school you attend – and that is especially true for would-be artists and designers.</p>

<p>I certainly agree too. Your pedigree is nowhere near as important as your final portfolio once you’re out of school.
I was set on going to NY for art school but Im going to KCAI and I’m excited, because I feel just as confident as if I was going to Cooper Union or RISD even.</p>
