I am currently working on my why transfer essay. I find myself in a dilemma, that is, my current college do have disadvantage,e.g. no engineer major. However, I am afraid to displaying a high level of dis-satisfactory would leave a bad impression upon colleges I plan to transfer.

So…is there anybody who can give me some advice how to make my transfer essay persuasive? And good luck to you all, my fellow transfer applicants~~

Passion for the subject you’re transfering for and detailed knowledge about what the college offers in that arena, including profs names and research that’s come out of the school.

Instead of focusing on the negative, write about what attracts you to the colleges you are applying to - for example mention that you are looking for a college that offers an engineering option/program.

I like hmom5’s idea. It’s safe and easy to write about, and can be very effective depending on how involved (and thus, how detailed you can describe your activities) you are in your area. Not to mention, this avenue has worked for many successful transfers here on CC - including that guy who got into Yale. I think if you want to “show” and not “tell,” hmom5’s idea is an easy way to go about it. Quite frankly, I find essays that preach or talk about feelings to be quite ineffective.

Plus, being affable/funny are always pluses.

Thank you, guys! I have got an new idea for my piles of essays!!
By the way, is there anybody who are willing to have a read of my essays and return some specific advice? I really appreciate it~
