What makes a stong Sophomore transfer app?

I’m toying with the idea of transfering from a private university far from home back to my good old flagship public. For various reasons, it’s not really what I was hoping for, my grades aren’t where I’d like them (3.1 vs. a 3.9 UW in HS), and being far from home is becoming a drag (it takes about 12 hours to get home by plane-no direct flights).

So the question is, what are the top factors in a sophomore transfer? ECs and professor recs. can’t be too great from only a year at a college, so I’m not really sure what they’d be looking for. I don’t need fin. aid because I have some private scholarships, and public is a little cheaper than private. I have very stong HS stats such as GPA and SATs etc.

I’ve filled out a transfer application a couple of times but haven’t had the guts to send it in yet.

12 hours? Where is home? Hawaii?

they will mostly be looking at your college gpa… but it all depends what major you apply as i guess. can you at least mention which public school? sheesh… thanks.
