LOL…
but i think, in some ways, st. paul and andover seems friendlier than exeter…

I’m a parent here

Exter is Great to me because:

Dan Brown

Marketing – before even visiting we got a multiple page letter from a current parent, a short letter from a current student, Happy Thanksgiving e-mail…

Admission Building – goes along with the marketing – There were snacks & drinks, yearbooks and comfy “living rooms” with couches.

A “recycled” whale mobile – not everyone collects whale bones for later Art displays.

A Loose interpretation of Dress Code – my son cringes at dress code, but shorts, sneaks, and mohawks added to the button up shirt & tie was awesome self expression.

Financial Aid – I assume this is also do to great sales resulting in high endowments

Harkness – yes it may be an overplayed card, but maybe other schools should showcase their discussion method classes.

Yes – most of what I said all revolve around marketing and selling themselves, but it had the effect to make our family feel welcome.

On the flip side, another well known top 10 school has virtually ignored us & has the most depressing catalog cover I ever laid eyes on – looks like a dreary day and a few lonely kids who aren’t acknowledgin each other’s existence.
