What makes Literature hard?

I’m wondering, everyone says its like the hardest subject test, but I am wondering, what exactly makes this test hard for some people?

It’s more based on innate skill than memorization. That’s why it’s tough to study for.

What makes Literature hard?

The fact you don’t really learn that kind of stuff at all at school. It’s a skill you learn on your own…

Eh, innate skill? I am skeptical of anything that is claimed to have genetic origin. :-/ Though I would agree that memorization isn’t good but it isn’t the only option…

Any other possibilities you think?

@Sheed, any example of what you mean by learning it on your own (though I agree that you don’t really learn much in school, maybe unless you took a good AP literature course beforehand, though I doubt many Juniors/Seniors have)

One word: Darwin.

Yes, if you’ve taken the an AP lit class then it should be easy. It’s a little like the MC AP test but easier I think. I think it’s hard for some, because the only real way to improve is by reading, and taking practice tests. After reading a lot of books, you pick up tone, allusions, motifs very easily.
