What Makes Michigan Special?

Thoughts, please. Don’t say anything about rankings, avg. SAT/ACT of entering class or whatever.

Ann Arbor

Balance.

A world-class university that’s still fun to attend. There is just so much going on there: superior academics in the LSA, but also excellent pre-professional programs (among the best in the country), big-time college sports, amazing music and arts programs, eclectic clubs and intramurals, fraternity parties and nonfraternity universitiy-sponsored activities for underclassmen, a lively but not overwhelming college town, four distinct and often stunningly beautiful seasons.

Atmosphere.

The feeling I got when first visiting with my son was simply: this is a Great University. Everything seems a little oversized…big style, big attitude, big pride, big energy. Hard to explain…you just feel like you’re part of something great just by being there. Same feeling on subsequent visits. A challenging place because it’s not a bubble, but doable. Eminently doable and enjoyable as well. My two cents.

Beautifully expressed jazzymom!
