I think it’s a mix of what people have said already. Princeton sits in a suburb, green, lovely, but only an hour from New York and an hour from Newark Airport. You see the effect of New York particularly in the Dance and Creative Writing programs, where talented artists are willing to come to campus. My theory is that it’s a vacation for them. The mathematicians and physicists can fly to Europe on a moment’s notice. And the students have focused areas for socialization, both on the Street and at Frist, with a number of students small enough for intimacy, and large enough for adventure. Princeton students gets extraordinary professors who demand extraordinary work, combined with lots of frolicking and play. That leads to very dedicated alumni.

Maybe your friend is poking fun at you?
