what math class should I take?

In 12th grade I took a calc class equivalent to 10A or 20A at UCSD, but I didn’t do well in the class. They want me to take 10B either in the fall or winter but I don’t feel prepared.

Does anyone know how hard this 10B class is?

I have no clue… but if you didn’t do well in the high school version, perhaps you should retake it and start with 10A. Math sucks when you’re working with a shaky foundation.

slorg,

out of curiosity, does your screen name have anything to do with this?:

Yes, back in the day I was a neopets millionaire. Now Slorg is one of my many pseudonyms.

If I take 10A I won’t get any credit for it

btw, what qualifications do you have to meet in order to take math 20A?

LOL! I used to be one too, a neopet addict/multimillionaire! Of course, that was way back… in junior high?

well, the whole 10 series seems pretty easy to me, though that may be because my calculus class covered everything from 10A to 10C.

10B. Calculus (4) Further applications of the definite integral. Calculus of trigonometric, logarithmic, and exponential functions. Complex numbers.

If you didn’t do well starting with 10B, you might as well fail it so you can take it again and get a better grade. And that would be like taking a class for no credit anyway.

If it was me, I would take 10B, but I am very strong in math. You know yourself a lot better than I do, and if you’re not feeling too good about starting off with 10B, then why should you start off with it? Though, if they placed you in 10B, you have to be at least somewhat capable of doing the work. So I dunno, it’s all up to you.

how do you all know what class they ‘want’ you to take?
and furthermore, is 10B and so on less difficult than the entire 20 series? hoboknifefight- you said that you are very strong in math and would take 10B, but if you’re strong in math shouldn’t you move on to the 20 series?
i’m sooo confused please help out

Go to http://www.newstudent.ucsd.edu. Look for your recommended classes there.

“10B. Calculus (4) Further applications of the definite integral. Calculus of trigonometric, logarithmic, and exponential functions. Complex numbers.”

Is it possible that I did most of this stuff in 1st semester of my 12th grade class?
