What meal plan/dorm should I request?

Hi everyone, Im 90% going to USC and I need to do that housing request form. Here are somethings that are important when it comes to dorms/meal plans.

I am kind of a nerd…aka I like to study LOL (though I am social, so if the dorm is completely isolated and cold, maybe not the best)

I don’t eat a ton, but snack a lot (bad habit eh). Im not big on cafeteria food but I can deal with it.

my parents would prefer a single due to study conduciveness but I don’t care, though I don’t want a triple.

I want something relatively close to my classes…aka not 15 minutes away (don’t think this is a problem as I believe all freshmen dorms are close though).

Thanks!

My S loved Pardee & so did the USC alum who recommended it to him. It’s a nice balance of social & quiet enough to study & was conveniently located near the quad, where lots of activities are held.

It’s pretty tough to get a single, especially as a freshman; most get doubles and learn to have a room mate. Some folks get suites. According to the staff who comes to Orientation, even the oldest staff members can get from one corner of campus to the oppposite corner in 15 minutes, so all freshmen dorms should meet your proximity criteria, since they’re on campus.

For meal plans, we selected the cheapest one, since you can always opt to increase it after you arrive, if you REALLY want to. Each dorm comes with a mini fridge/microwave, so snacking is fairly easy to do in your room.

Suites might give you a bit more privacy and share a common living room & bathroom. Parkside has suites.

If you snack alot, go for pardee or birnkrant… birnkrant has trogro downstairs, perfect for snacking (we snacked alot first year, haha). pardee is close to cafe 84 and superior/UV so~
