<p>Just curious . . . what percent of freshman come to college with a high school boyfriend or girlfriend? What percent of these relationships actually end up lasting? When they do breakup is it usually early freshman year, sometime sophomore year or when?</p>

I think that was the number from 2 years ago. After modifying a few coefficients in the regression equation and changing the methodology from Stratified Random Sampling to Multi-Stage Sampling I read that the last years’ number was 15.4678%</p>

<p>Yes, that is known as the Turkey Drop. It’s very, very common. And very few highschool relationships last through college, especially if you go to different schools. So don’t even try.</p>
<p>You can see you hs girlfriend in the summer and on weekends and see your college girlfriend when you are at college. I bet most college dudes have at least two girlfriends in college. Sometimes they are even ok with you having another girlfriend, but usually not. You just have to be really careful with your phone and fb posts.</p>
<p>I’ve been with my bf since I was a freshman…I’m now a senior in hs and he’s a sophomore in college. (3 years total, over 1 and a half have been long distance bc he had to move before college) anyways, I wouldn’t say it’s normal (or easy for that matter) but he really is one of my best friends. I won’t be attending where he goes next year, but I will be able to see him more than I do now! So… Yeah that’s my input lol :)</p>

<p>It’s not common, but I can honestly think of more long term relationships that have lasted than vice versa.</p>

<p>It’s worth a try, though I have seen overall that most high school relationships do break up during freshman year of college. That being said, I’ve been with my boyfriend since sophomore year of high school and I’m a junior in college now (five years). Then again, we went to different high schools that were far apart, so being apart in college wasn’t that much different.</p>
<p>Eh. The couples I knew in high school all broke up by early sophomore year. Even two couples who chose to go to the same school so that they could stay together. People warned them this wasn’t the smartest choice, but 18 year olds all think they’ve found their soulmates and say the same “but we’re different!”.</p>
<p>I do have one friend who just married her boyfriend–they’re 24 and have been together since 15, but they are literally the only couple I know who dated in high school and lasted. </p>
<p>So my carefully calculated and accurate percentage would be 4.2%. Actually, forget that. It’s like 1%</p>
