So today I get to school and in homeroom I’m handed a ballot with the names of four seniors on it (mine included). I’m told to vote for who should receive the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) Good Citizen Award, so I do. Later in the day, I discover that I received the most votes, thus winning the award. Does this award look good on a college resume, or is it just another random/generic award that college’s hardly review? Will it help my chances of admission to top universities, the ivies in particular? Will colleges be familiar with the award? Thanks.

Bump. 10char.

it will be recognized by ivies, etc. everyone knows the DAR. but while i wouldn’t say it would “help” you significantly, it is a nice thing to have. put it down on your apps.

Any award determined by a vote of your classmates isn’t helpful on an ivy app, but I’m sure you know that. The redeeming thing about this one is that the DAR is a group every school knows. That makes this not a throw away award. Do list it.

Cool, will do. Thanks.
