What "OP" stands for

<p>I know it means “person who made the thread” but I only see it used here. Other forums usually just say “thread starter” or something. It’s just so annoying when you don’t know an acronym stands for.</p>

<p>It kinda depends on wheter you are using OP as the object of the sentence, I think. "The OP was saying in their post that… makes it “original poster”, … whereas “in the OP the statement was made…” makes it “original post”. Ok, I have too much time on my hands… splitting hairs here…</p>
