What other ACT Prep Books are available?

I have taken tests out of the 1296 PR, the 2009 & 2007 PR, the Real ACT, and some Kaplan. I’m running out of tests…what other ACT Prep books do you recommend thats not too easy like Mcgraw Hill. Or does Mcgraw Hill actually have accurate practice tests? Also what do you think about the ACT Black Book?

Thanks in Advance!

From my experience, MH is easier than any other tests. You can try Barron’s but it is so much harder than the actual test/the real ACT.
Never tries the black book though.

I have the black book, pure garbage. If you scoring 22+ don’t use it, its simple garbage. There’s a member in this forum that advertises for the black book, watch out for him. I recommend Barron’s 36

Arco’s act book is excellent
although i havent seen any stores selling them lately

There are free practice questions on the ACT website, the thing is that they don’t give a grading sheet for it. Here’s the link: <a href=“ACT Test Preparation | Test Prep Resources | ACT”>ACT Test Preparation | Test Prep Resources | ACT;

There is also a full free practice from the ACT here:

Thanks wanago2college!! I was about to click Buy Now for the ACT Black book right before I read your post!
I have an ACT score of 27, I’m trying to get it to 29. I’m having the most trouble with TIME in general and science & reading like everyone else. I would take Barron…but I have 2 weeks left and I have to read it all? Should I still buy Barron for the tests? I’m trying to find a book that will help me with TIME.

Bottom line is, there is NOTHING you can do about time. You have to practice so you can do questions faster. The more you are prepared, the more you will increase the speed. But if you are a slow test taker, the ACT may not be right for you. Barron 36 is not good for practice, but is the BEST for strategies. Princeton Review isn’t for the elite. Trust me, I was a 22 scorer now I am 33 lol

I am in fact a very slow test taker, not just for the ACT, but for all my classes’ tests. Its really annoying actually, because I’m ALWAYS the last one to finish. ACT may not be the right thing for me, but I still have to do it because that is whats going to bring down my chances of getting into the Universities if I do not know improve my speed. I take extremely challenging classes, my essays are great (I worked extremely hard on them), and my EC is decent. I know time is my problem because I take Calc BC (never made a B in any math class and so far i have a 97 in BC), and I cant even score higher than a 31 or 32 on math?!? Sorry to vent, but its so damn fustrating.

Thanks for all the responses!!

Scoring high on math isn’t about what math you are in. Even calculus students have a hard time with ACT math. Take a practice test, find out what type of problems you have trouble with it. ACT and SAT are more of a Logic test than anything else. Knowing how to set up problems will give you a high score.
