What part of Copenhagen to stay in?

Title says it all. I’ve never been, and there seems to be so many different answers. What do all y’all think?

How long are you going to be there and what do you plan to see? When we went, we stayed in city center, but also looked at bus routes to be sure our place was fairly close to a stop. Accomodations are more expensive though.

I’d advise determining what you plan to see, then staying in an area that gives you good access to these places.

I’m staying for three nights. I do like art so I’ve been looking at some things like the Design Museum, Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, and the National Gallery but I’m also interested in the waterfront. These are all around Kobenhavn? but there are three districts in that area? Frederiksberg, Norrebro, Osterbro? Not really sure how Copenhagen is set up to be honest. I feel like all of these are viable?

Based on the places you want to visit, and the three neighborhoods you have named, I’m assuming you want some specific amenities in the location you choose to stay. I would be choosing the city center for proximity to those three spots, so I’m probably not going to be very helpful.

When we went, my daughter told me to look in Norrebro if I couldn’t find a suitable Airbnb in city center. But we were basing that on efficient use of time and location. She recently moved to Osterbro, which is the desired location to live in the city, or so I understand. She loves it there. That’s where we will probably stay the next time we visit.

I’m sorry I’m not more helpful.

I’ve only been there once. We stayed at the Hotel Bethel for the location. It was clean and we were happy with the accommodations…though the bathroom was quite small. Check out reviews and pictures online. Hope you have a great trip!

We visited for 5 days and stayed in an Airbnb apartment in the Islands Brygge area. We found it was easy to get around with public transportation to just about anywhere we wanted to go.

@anxiousenior1 - did you go and where did you end up staying??? I’m planning a trip of the same length, same interests as you.

Thinking maybe I’ll just go with the Radisson Blu Royale (city center, looks like to me) and use my points. Any comments from experienced Copenhagen travelers? I am not interested in Air B&B properties for this trip. DH has agreed to travel with me which is highly unusual, so am looking for ease and reasonable comfort above cost savings.

Thanks

We stayed at the Hotel D’Angleterre, which is centrally located. While my H was in meetings, I went all over the city using public transportation. Getting around was easy.

We stayed in Nyhavn. There are a couple of hotels there that are converted warehouses and you’re right on the water. You can walk the footbridge over to Christianshavn. Being on the water gives the city its character, and it’s nice to be close to it. Public transport is easy. Train from the airport is a breeze (be sure you get on the Metro and not the commuter rail by mistake).

I stayed in an airbnb in Indre By, so can’t really help with hotel recommendations :frowning:

Depends on how much you want to spend. City center is great. Norrebro is a cheaper area, lots of immigrants. The area around the Botanic gardens and Kastellet is a very nice residential neighborhood.

We had a good experience with the Best Western Hotel Hebron. We were only there one night however -so I can’t comment much as to location

My hotel recommendation is Best Western Plus Hotel City. International Best Westerns are better than those in the US, IMO. I stayed there a couple of years ago and would definitely consider staying there again. A wonderful breakfast buffet is included, the street is quiet, and it is within walking distance of many sites. If anything, the reviews of the hotel that I saw today are even better than when I stayed there.

Thank you all for your suggestions! @“cincy gal” and @veruca, when DH and I were first married (back in the days when he would travel abroad), we made several trips to Europe staying almost exclusively in Best Western properties. They were wonderful, all unique. I’m glad to hear they’ve held up in quality. Most of my recent overseas travel has been in areas without Best Westerns. I’ll look into that! Given that DH is a reluctant traveler, maybe the nodtslgia would draw him in!

The Hebron is not too Far from Tivoli Gardens and Christianbourg Palace -the actual street is was on was just OK. There was an amazing breakfast and the staff was really kind to us about helping us with our lost luggage. Also no AC if that is an issue
