Are there any standard placement tests (math, writing etc.) that I should take for Yale college?? If I’m majoring in Biology, are there any specific ones I should also take? Also, when should I take them? I haven’t started on any. Thanks!!!

I’m assuming you’ve gotten in and not asking about acceleation credits
from what I understand in the freshmen handbook we’ll hear about placement tests in the calender that they will send us…eventually…I’m waiting for it too :)

There are placement tests during camp yale. I think they offer languages, chemistry, and music theory. Math placement is online in august, which you print out and bring to a placement meeting. Econ and physics placements are assigned online based on AP scores.

I would recommend taking every one that you are qualified for. Even if you don’t think you’ll need it, it doesn’t hurt to waste that hour, and you may or may not want to take a relevant course second semester, and many of these tests are only offered in the fall.

Generally placements are guidelines and you can talk to professors about your placement, relevant test scores, and grades, and decided which level is the best for you.

Some of the departments offer placement based on SAT IIs too. I think chemistry or biology is one of them.
