What Privates should I apply to?

I got a 2030 on my SAT Reasoning Test. I got a 31.5 (rounds to 32 for composite score) on my ACT. I got a 680 in Biology and a 720 in chemistry. I have never failed an AP test. I have gotten 4s on US History and Chemistry and a 5 in Psychology. The the other three tests were 3s.

As for extra curricular, I didn’t do much 9 and 10th just a few clubs in which I had no position. 11th grade I joined a club that trains for the Los Angeles marathon. We practice after school 3 days a week. I’m currently training to be able to complete the LA marathon again in March. I got a black belt in Karate during High School. And every week I do stuff with my Christian Youth group. I also have a lot of service hours (250+). However, I didn’t do anything productive during the summer.

I want to major in something sciencey. Hoping to go to medical school after I finish my undergraduate studies. I live in California. What are some reasonable privates that I should apply to (if possible some privates that have good medical programs)?

Actually, it sounds like you’ve done a good job with extracurriculars. Admission committees often like to see a deeper focus and commitment to several activities rather than superficial involvement in a large number of activities (and they can tell what is ‘padding’). IMHO, I think you’re in good shape with your ECs.

In terms of privates, where in the country would you like to be?

Apply to Johns Hopkins

well, I don’t want to go to the South. I would prefer the East, I guess. Although, I wouldn’t mind the Midwest.

Oh, and do you think I have any realistic chance at any Ivies?

Holy Cross near Boston has a strong premed program. Over 10% of their alumni are doctors.

Bowdoin
Williams
Amherst
etc etc

If you’re open to LACs, Haverford may be worth a look. If you’re female, you might consider Wellesley or Smith.
