In honor of April 10th coming up, I thought it would be fun for us all to post what schools (if you feel comfortable) we are going to next year. Format as follows:
•What school have you chosen?
•What other schools were you accepted to?
•What factored into your decision to go to your chosen school?
•Any concerns about said school?
I’ll start:
•I chose Choate
•I was also accepted to EHS, Deerfield, Mercersburg, Hill, and Hotchkiss
•Overall, I liked the medium size of Choate, and it had a really great feel when I visited campus. I liked the classes that I watched and could in general see myself going there over any other school.
•My only concern is the snow I am from a Caribbean island
•I chose Loomis Chaffee!
•I was also accepted to Kent, Miss Porter’s, Tabor, and Westminster.
•I like the (relatively) large size of Loomis (compared to my school now) and everyone I met was simply incredible. There didn’t seem to be any cliques and I talked to so many different kids who, despite coming from so many backgrounds, were incredibly close.
•I’m concerned about leaving behind my friends and family! We live over a three hour drive away!
• I have chosen Berkshire School!
• I was also accepted to Tabor, Peddie, and Pomfret
• I loved how close knit the whole community was. How accepting every student and faculty member seemed to be. Just a really happy and amazing place overall! Not to mention the gorgeous and newly renovated facilities
I just got accepted into my local magnet school! It apparently has around an 18% acceptance rate every year. Although I would trade that in for a BS acceptance in a blink of an eye…
Well, I’m just happy that I’m not going to my LPS next year. I guess I’ll reapply from my magnet!
I have chosen my current school, but may transfer mid-year to another BS.
It’s currently the best option for financial reasons
My only concern is that the seniors will be gone (my only friends)
I am going to reapply in hope for more financial aid!
•Going to my local public school (for 9th grade, then reapplying)!
•Nope, just public school.
•I was denied to all of the schools I applied to, haha.
•Hmmm…I guess if I do have a concern, it would be that I may be lost within a sea of students…there are approximately 2000 students at that high school!
• I chose Choate!
• I was also accepted be Cheshire Academy, and Lawrence Academy
• I chose Choate because I loved the school overall and I loved the football program. I can see my self excelling at Choate
• No concern
@whatever4ever when you go to my school anything’s possible… connections are a wonderful thing to have ;). I have contacted my schools and they said it was fine… but still worried about finances. We will see!
@historygeek40 …do your parents remember the stats that the Loomis Director of Admissions gave on revisit day regarding applicants/acceptances etc? I missed the first 5 minutes
@dreamcatcher3 I don’t remember exact figures, but I remember reading that they had over 2,000 applicants this year! Being accepted was such an honor.
•Phillips Academy Andover
•Just the one (I applied to only one other school)
•It was a really difficult decision, but meeting really intelligent, thoughtful, and articulate people who went there and loved it was what took it over the edge.
•I’m afraid I won’t do as well at Andover as at my current high school. I’m also worried about social life and entering at a 10th grader.
I chose Exeter because I preferred their style of teaching. I also liked the large class size and I also live in Exeter so I’d rather be a day student than boarding.
I chose St. George’s School in Rhode Island. I was also accepted to Dana Hall and Milton, and wait listed by Deerfield, Hotchkiss, Middlesex. I will be enrolling into 10th Grade (fourth form).
I chose St. George’s School because I know a friend who goes there and she is also Asian. I talked to her father and he said that even though St. George’s have a small population or very few Asians, the Americans or white student body do not act snobby or stuff like other prep schools, maybe. Also, it has a student body of 400 and I guess it gave me a very warm feeling.
The acceptance letter was very personalized unlike the other prep schools who just copied and paste the letter just changing the names. It mentioned what you told the interviewer during your interview and traits that St. George’s appreciate. Also, in the admission packet, a St. George’s tshirt is mailed to you. They really do welcome you to be a part of their family.
I have never actually been to the school, but I like the feeling that I have gotten through the website, and their various instagram pages run by students and the school. I also heard that Newport is a very nice town and city.
Did I mention I will be enrolling with my twin sister? Guess it makes it better that we will be looking out for each other.
Anyways we are both very excited to be embarking on a new journey!
